My name is Jack Register and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and a licensed clinical addiction specialist (LCAS). I received my graduate degree in 2000 from the Joint Masters of Social Work program between the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and NC A&T State University. Since receiving my degree I have worked in settings where clients with medical conditions like cancer, HIV/AIDS, kidney failure, addiction, and/or co-occurring mental illness have been present.
I have years of experience in working with adolescents and adults who struggle with active or family history of addiction and mental illness. I have facilitated groups for families and active addicts as well. I believe in
a recovery model of care and can incorporate the 12 step model and other functional models of recovery into care. I use a holistic approach to working with my clients and believe in finding strengths and resiliency first.
I also have experience working with men struggling to find identity and with those who have been abused by faith practices that discriminate against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals. I am queer identified and trans affirming in my practice and my work. I also have experience in working with queer & trans identified people who have co-occurring mental health/addiction issues because of oppression and discrimination. I also am experienced in working with queer & trans identified people who have sexual addiction & codenpendency issues. I have training and experience in helping transgender individuals walk through transition successfully.
I am trained and experienced in doing one-on-one therapy with adults, adolescents and children. I am also trained and experienced in doing group therapy and family therapy. I have specific training working with children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, have self harming thoughts or behaviors, or are trying to heal from a traumatic event.
I hold these qualifications: 1) I have a master's degree in social work from the joint program between University of North Carolina at Greensboro and A&T State University, whose program is approved by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE). 2) I hold current licenses to practice as a clinical social worker, and as a clinical addiction specialist in the state of North Carolina (LCSW & LCAS). 3) I am licensed and hold certifications in clinical supervision for addiction and clinical social work.
At this time I do not accept insurance but hope to in the future. I have a fee scale apprpriate to income and can provide documentation should clients wish to file on their own.
